It Lives!!!!!

Yea! First entry! This will actually be my third blog site and sadly I haven't had much to say on any of them. Anyway, moving on . . .

7 1/2 Habits of Life Long Learning!

I had never really thought about it before, but I guess I am constantly learning new things but never really think of it as "learning." To me it's just doing stuff I want to do because I want to do it and now that I'm done with academic school, I have the time to pursue whatever I choose.

Going though the list of habits, I found the hardest for me would be goal setting and sticking to it, mostly because I get distracted or bored with something quite easily. My focus sometimes depends on what else is happening in my life, what else I'm reading, or what my friends are currently interested in. An example would be my neighbors are setting up a garden and offered me a spot for my own stuff which means I'm currently more interested in planning for fruits and veggies than reading right now, but that could change by next week!

I suppose the learning contract would be a good idea to help me focus with the writing down of my goals giving them more permanence than a mental list. It almost seems that I have too much free time now that I'm out of college. My attention span is nil and I keep pinging back and forth all over the place until I ultimatly end up not accomplishing much of anything.

Thoughts for the week:

  • stream-line goals ---- what I want to do this week/month
  • projects that have been languishing ----reexamine, are they worth completing/revising/terminating
  • Organize! can't see what needs to be done or what resources I have without a good mental and physical cleaning/sprucing up
  • change vague mental lists to typed up reality
  • save the whales
  • clean my room

"To know where you can find a thing is the chief part of learning"

  1. Great start! Keep going - it would be really satisfying if you, as the last to start this, could be the next to finish!
